Every business has a beginning. Ours started in 1991 with a Rottweiler named Toro.
Toro, my first Rottweiler (1991), inspired a lifelong passion for animals that eventually led to Paw & Tail Supply Co.
A Journey Decades in the Making
1991 – Toro enters my life and sparks a lifelong passion for animals.
1991–2003 – Gained hands-on experience in veterinary medicine, emergency care, orthopedic support, and radiology in Miami, Florida.
2003 – Relocated to Jacksonville, Florida and continued working with animals at Jacksonville Animal Care & Protective Services.
2006 – Started selling flea and tick kits from my living room and garage.
2006 – Founded PiccardMeds4Pets.
2011–2021 – Built and expanded PiccardMeds4Pets into a 10,000-square-foot warehouse operation serving customers nationwide.
2020–2022 – Successfully navigated the challenges and business changes brought by COVID-19 and a rapidly changing ecommerce landscape.
Today – Paw & Tail Supply Co. continues the mission of helping pet owners, farms, ranches, and animal caretakers find trusted products backed by decades of hands-on experience.
Our Story
What began as a love for animals quickly grew into a lifelong passion and career. My first introduction to the veterinary world came through Dr. Juan Santamarina at Tamiami Animal Hospital in Miami, Florida. That experience opened the door to a profession that would shape the next three decades of my life.
From there, I worked alongside Dr. Wittick, an orthopedic surgeon, which led me to pursue studies in veterinary radiology and X-ray technology. I later worked in emergency veterinary medicine in conjunction with Hialeah-Miami Springs Animal Hospital, gaining hands-on experience alongside respected veterinarians including Dr. O'Quinn and Dr. Daniels.
In 2003, my family and I relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where I continued working with animals at Jacksonville Animal Care & Protective Services. Throughout those years, I developed extensive knowledge of animal health products, medications, supplements, flea and tick control, livestock supplies, and everyday pet care products.

Working out of my living room and garage, I began selling flea and tick kits online. What started as a small side business quickly grew into something much larger. That venture became PiccardMeds4Pets, serving pet owners across the country and eventually growing into a 10,000-square-foot warehouse operation.
Over the years, the business evolved through industry changes, economic challenges, marketplace shifts, and the unprecedented impact of COVID-19. Yet one thing never changed: a passion for helping people care for their animals.
Today, that same commitment continues through Paw & Tail Supply Co.
While the name has changed, the mission remains the same: to provide pet owners, farms, ranches, and animal caretakers with quality products, dependable service, and the benefit of more than 30 years of hands-on experience in animal care.
From Toro in 1991 to Paw & Tail Supply Co. today, this journey has always been about one thing: helping animals live healthier, happier lives.
